Gum Arabic

Gum Arabic is a natural gum produced from the trunk and branches of the Acacia Senegal tree, known as hashab (هشاب) or hard gum, and the Acacia Seyal tree, known as talh (طلحه) chipped gum.

The Gum Arabic is commercially collected from wild trees, mostly in Sudan (80%) and throughout what known as Gum Belt of Sub-Saharan Africa, extending from the northern parts of West Africa eastwards to Sudan and Ethiopia. A little gum is of Indian origin.

Gum Arabic is a pale white to orange brown solid which breaks with a glassy fracture. Gum Arabic can stays intact for decades if stored properly. Gum Arabic is used primarily in the food industry as well as other industries.
